Haiti preluded the games. A young Georgian hopeful  lost his life in the luge only hours before the Opening Ceromony. And Chile experienced the unthinkable while the games persued. Yet for seventeen days, in the midst of tradegy, the world united.

Certainly, different flags were waved, different faces graced podiums, and whether or not it was the skiier that jumped or an ice athlete that skated into your heart, it was all the athletes, coaches, announcers, and volunteers of the Vancouver Olympics that contributed to the Games’ success and memorable moments.

The jubilation, comradery, and sportsmanship witnessed outweighed any small controversies and continue to respresent what the Olympics are all about. While some groups have publically protested the Games as wasted expenditures, I truly believe there is no greater source than the Olympics  that possesses the power to remind ourselves what hard-work, determination, and unity can accomplish.

Sure, I was gunning for team U.SA. to whip out another Miracle moment and beat Canada. Evening the score with 24.4 seconds to go was utterly amazing! Yet, in every game there will always be a winner and a loser. It was an excellent game. A perfect ending for the host country, and just another reason we will have to tune in four years to watch the games in Sochi, Russia. Until then, many Canadian and American pucksters will trade opposing jerseys for their NHL teams and become teammates once more.
